The course
The Hannover Marathon is a 42.195 km single-loop road race in Hannover, Germany. It starts and finishes in front of the Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall). The route passes the Waterloo column, the HDI-Arena, runs along the edge of the Maschsee lake, enters the Eilenriede city forest, and passes the opera house, the Herrenhausen Palace gardens, Leibniz University's Welfenschloss and the sculpture mile with Niki de Saint Phalle's Nanas. With only about 17-20 m of total elevation change, it is one of the flattest marathon courses in Germany.
