The course

The Edinburgh Marathon is a point-to-point race starting on Potterrow in the city centre and finishing in Musselburgh. The route passes Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, the Scottish Parliament and Holyrood, then heads east along the coast via Portobello Promenade, past Musselburgh's golf course to Gosford House before turning back to the finish. It is a fast, net-downhill course descending roughly 90 m from start to near sea level.
