The course
A point-to-point course (the Mesa Marathon, formerly the Mesa-Phoenix Marathon) starting on N. Usery Pass Rd below the large white Phoenix sign on Usery Mountain. It descends through cactus desert with views of the Phoenix Valley and is nearly all downhill, with only a slight rise between miles 4-6, for a net elevation loss of almost 1,000 ft. It finishes on N. Riverview at Riverview Park in Mesa. Runners are bused to the start; the course is a USATF-certified Boston qualifier.
