The course

The Marrakech International Marathon starts and finishes on Avenue de la Menara in the Hivernage district, behind the Sofitel hotel. The single-loop course skirts the ancient medina walls, passing historic gates such as Bab Kechich, Bab Debbagh-Kawtar, Bab Ghmat and Bab Ahmar, and runs through the Menara and Agdal gardens and the Palmeraie. It is flat overall, with a deceptive false-flat climb through the suburbs, and is World Athletics/AIMS certified.
